Although Funchal is a quiet city, there are many interesting choices all around the island. And note that you can reach any point of the island in less than a 1 hour drive.

Why not a spend a day in Porto Santo? 15 minutes by plane or 2 hours and a half with the ferry “Lobo Marinho” separate these two islands. So close and yet so different.
The spectacular golden sandy beach of Porto Santo was named one of the "Seven Wonders" of Portugal in the “beach dunes” category in 2012. The Porto Santo beachis 9 km long - the same lengthof the island.
